Day 55 - Gibb River Road - "Not Quite There Yet" to Hann River

 (Kate)

Day 55 – Gibb River Road: “Not Quite There Yet” to Hann River.

Kate got a beautiful sunrise photo. We made pancakes for breakfast in honour of Keith’s birthday the other day. We decided that on this trip we would have birthday pancakes instead of traditional birthday cake. Yum.
We prepared our air-conditioning towels by making them damp and storing them in a plastic bag in the car and set off on the corrugations. Far out. Sensory overload again. We stopped at a nice roadside stop at a creek for lunch, then moved on.
We picked a Wikicamp at Hann River. Very nice. Lots of water and therefore wildlife. Even cows. Lots of tall gum trees and pandanus. Very little wind here. Despite Ben’s efforts with weather-strip to seal the back door of the Deli, dust is still getting in. He put extra seal around the door. We had a nice fire thanks to all the dead gum branches around the place.
