Day 25 - Borroloola to Mataranka

 (Kate)

Day 25 - Borroloola to Mataranka.

Bitumen. Glorious bitumen. We love you so much. We fueled up and set out for a long day on the road. We had a treat lunch at the Daly Waters Hi-Way Inn Roadhouse, where we briefly had mobile reception and learned that Adelaide is about to go into lockdown.

We turned north onto the Stuart Highway and arrived at Mataranka at 3.30pm (thankyou bitumen). We set up, changed into bathers, and drove to the Bitter Springs. It was lovely and warm, and very relaxing to float on the pool noodles we'd brought all the way from Adelaide. We got chatting to a family from Tasmania with similar aged children who are also doing a 14 week trip. We stayed in the pool til we noticed the Sun going behind the palm trees, then had a nice dinner back at camp. It got surprisingly cold here when the Sun went down, but I guess we are in the desert after all.  Beanie, 2 jumpers, and sit close to the fire sort of cold.
